About Me

Age: 49

Status: Single (never married)

Alma mater: Brown Institute; earlier in life I began degree programs and also completed many classes at both the University of Maryland & Crown College.

What’s on TV: LOST & C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigations……both of which I actually watch online. I don’t use my TV for anything other than watching DVDs.

What’s on my iPod: Mainly a series of mixes featuring a selection of songs from my iTunes library which heavily favors music from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.

Favorite flicks: Blade Runner, Reservoir Dogs, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Searchers, Chinatown, The Mission, A Christmas Story, Manhattan, Swept Away (1974), Field Of Dreams, Short Cuts, No Country For Old Men, The Whole Wide World and of course Cinema Paradiso

Favorite DVDs in my collection: The Wire (The Complete Series); Star Trek: DS9 (all seasons); The Prisoner (the complete original TV series)

Favorite websites: MLB.com; Baseball-Reference.com; Retrosheet.org; Yahoo!; FantasticFiction.co.uk; MaltMadness.com

What I’m reading: “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski

What I just finished reading: “Dear American Airlines” by Jonathan Miles

Magazine subscriptions: The New Yorker; Taste of Home and Baseball America

Favorite way to spend spare time: During the winter I’d say reading would top the list, then doing the daily crossword puzzles or going to the local library…during the summer it would be seeing a Minnesota Twins or St. Paul Saints ballgame with friends followed by a barbecue.

Worst habit: Leaving things I’ve started unfinished…more to the point – procrastination!

Love to trade places for a day with: Jim Pohlad, current owner of the Minnesota Twins. I’d like to have the chance to see and learn the actual inner workings of a Major League Baseball team.

First job: The first job I earned a paycheck for was being the assistant to the church maintenance man & groundskeeper. I can’t remember what I earned but I do remember how much I liked working for my boss, Jiggs.

Favorite foods: Greek salad and a Gyro; ‘Jack Daniels’ steak at Fridays, medium well; Mac’ & Cheese (heavy on the cheese); my mother’s Eggplant Parmigiana; Progresso Tomato Basil soup with just a touch of heavy cream; Scotchies; both Pecan Pie & Lemon Meringue Pie; homemade salsa from one of my ‘bestest’ friends, Jan.

Talent I’d most like to have: Play the piano….I actually do but you might feel inclined to think otherwise when you hear me!

Place I would most like to visit: The Smithsonian

Favorite local athlete: When I was much younger it was guys like Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew, Cesar Tovar, Rod Carew, Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven and even the Minnesota Vikings’ Fran Tarkenton & Carl Eller. Nowadays it would be pretty much anyone in a Twins uniform although I do favor Justin Morneau & Joe Mauer like virtually any other average Twins fan.

Favorite team as a kid: The Twins have always been my sentimental favorite although I was a staunch Oakland Athletics fan during their World Series years in the early 70’s.

Attribute I value most in others: Honesty I suppose…although I could get really chummy with someone who hung on my every word, lent me money whenever I would wish and always had a bottle of Scotch they’d like to share with me – no matter how dishonest they were.

People I’ve most admired during my lifetime: Kurt Vonnegut & Ray Bradbury (authors); Roberto Clemente & Reggie Jackson (baseball players)

  1. You may want to change the “person to trade places with for a day with” section.
